DescriptionChemise (.a): Woman's white cotton chemise. The short (approximately six-inch) sleeves are cut one with the neckband, with the edges scalloped and embroidered with a double row of eyelets filled with a spoked threadwork design. Because of the cut of the chemise, this embroidery is continuous across the neck edge, over the top of the arm and around the sleeve openings. The embroidered edges at the top of the arm are fastened together with three mother of pearl buttons carved to resemble flowers. The neckline is wide and approximately square; there is no additional opening. The front and back panels of the chemise are gathered into the band across the front and back of the neck. Each panel is pieced to make it the desired width. The hem is 1 1/4-inch deep.

Drawers (.b): Woman's white cotton split drawers. The legs are gathered into the 1 7/8-inch-wide waistband, which fastens at center front with a single white glass button. The legs each have a 7/8-inch-wide tuck basted 4 1/2 inches above the bottom edge. The leg openings are embroidered with a simple eyelet design of three rows of circles filled with a spoked threadwork pattern, over the scalloped edge.
