DescriptionView of a girl, possibly Marjory Cheney (1912-2003), kneeling next to a small reflecting pool or fountain in the middle of the garden at the Howell Cheney house in Manchester, Connecticut. The fountain is not on. The girl is leaning forward and touching one of several lily pads that are floating on the water. A hat is sitting on the grass to her left. There is a rabbit statue near the edge of the pool on the right. In the background, a path between two flowering garden beds, with carpet-covered steps, leads up to a sitting area with two benches beneath a pergola.
