DescriptionView of Katherine Parker Cheney standing on the brick front porch of a large house. She is wearing a dress that has long sleeves and pleated ruffles down the sides of the skirt and there is a dark colored, wide-brimmed hat on her head. She is holding a dark colored parasol or umbrella upside down in her right hand, balancing the point on the ground. There are two chairs on the porch behind her, one on either side of the front entrance, under a portico. The double doors to the house are closed. There is a lantern hanging from the roof of the portico.
