DescriptionJapanese kimono of green silk printed around the bottom with a deep border design of Japanese lanterns and other Oriental motifs. The shoulders are printed with broad stripes of orange and white flanking a narrow stripe of green. A large orange circle with chrysanthemum designs outlined in white and with a black border is printed between the shoulders in back. The kimono is constructed of a long, rectangular piece of fabric folded in half, creating the shoulderline. The center front is cut for an opening and edged with a two-inch-wide band which is decorated with calligraphic designs in white and orange. This band is stiffened with an interlining. The kimono is stitched up the sides, leaving an opening to set in the straight, wide sleeves. The kimono is lined with fine magenta silk. A loop of cream-colored silk tape is stitched inside the neck edge for hanging the garment.
