DescriptionFamily register is divided into four columns by fluted Ionic columns connected by arches. The arches are occupied by vignettes depicting a man, woman, boy, and girl standing outdoors; a woman kneeling beside a cradle while a small boy looks on; a minister marrying a man and a woman in a church; and a woman kneeling with her hands covering her face, beside a small child and a monument inscribed "I / know that / my Redeemer / liveth." A willow tree is at the left; a lake is in the right background.

NotesSubject Note: According to census records, Jason Leason and his wife Abiah were both born in Massachusetts. However, all of their children were born in New York, probably in Sullivan, New York, near Syracuse. Their two sons both went West. Edward's first son was born in Illinois, but he subsequently returned to western New York State. Alfred was in Kansas Territory in 1860, and by 1870 was living in Iowa; he was still there in 1900. It seems probable that the family register was acquired and filled out in New York state. (Finlay 3/13/2006)
