DescriptionPortrait of a man sitting in a chair, facing slightly to the right. He has blue eyes and short, dark brown hair. He is wearing a white collar that comes up high around his chin and is held in place with a high black stock, a white shirt with diamond-shaped jet buttons, a buff vest brocaded with red and green figured, a black coat with a wide rolling collar and notched lapels, and black trousers. A watch chain of gold and jet beads on a narrow cord is draped across his chest. His right hand rests on the back of the red chair in which he is sitting.
