DescriptionPair of reproduction celery glasses made of blown colorless lead glass. Each celery glass has a flared rim, a nearly cylindrical body, and gadrooning at the base. Each rests on a short stem with a wide circular foot that has a pontil mark on the bottom. Each celery glass has the same two types of decoration. First, a thin, applied thread of glass has been wound multiple times around the rim and neck. Additionally, a raised, repeating chain pattern circles the middle.
Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
