DescriptionRound, Chinese export porcelain saucer with hand-painted underglaze cobalt blue decoration; the saucer is a type of Chinese export porcelain known as Cantonware. The saucer is decorated in the center with a landscape showing with Chinese structures on the right. There is a bridge in the foreground, with smaller houses, mountains, and trees in the distance beyond a river or body of water. There are two small boats in the river and a small figure in one of the structures. The pattern is surrounded at the rim by two concentric borders. The first border consists of parallel lines of hatching outlined by blue lines that circle the rim. The second border consists of a band of blue with darker blue parallel lines of hatching painted over. There are a few light scratches on the surface of the saucer.
