DescriptionOvoid, wide-mouthed, two gallon stoneware jar with a salt glaze on the exterior and a brown slip glaze, or Albany-type slip glaze, on the interior. The jar has sides that swell from a round foot, then narrow gradually to form a rolled rim. An incised line circles the jar about two inches below the rim. Two pulled lug handles have been applied to the jar along their full length, attaching just at this incised line. On one side, between the handles, and just below the rim, is an impressed mark, "WEBSTER,&.SEYMOU[R]/ 2". Cobalt blue has been applied over the mark. There are several imperfections in the glaze, due to an uneven stoneware surface. There is a crack in the rim and side of the jar to the right of the mark.
