DescriptionGroup of three Chinese export porcelain teacups with overglaze black enamel and gilding, a type of decoration known as grisaille. The teacups are decorated on the inside of the rim with a border of small leaves or arrows in black enamel. There are a series of borders on the outside of the rim, consisting of a solid line, a line of dots, another solid line, and a scalloped line with a line of three dots pointing down at each indentation of the line. Finally, each teacup is decorated with a cluster of black enamel flowers highlighted with gilding. A molded and applied handle is located on the opposite side of each teacup. One teacup (.1) has a slight buildup of an unknown substance near the rim. Imperfections in the porcelain appear as black dots on the surface of each teacup.
