DescriptionBlown opal glass mug with a barrel-shaped body and a shallow kick with a ground pontil mark on the bottom. At one side, the mug has an applied, ear-shaped handle with tooled decoration at the bottom. The rim has a band of gilding. Opposite the handle is a neo-classical style, hand-painted decoration of a red enamel oval containing a portrait of a woman in a red dress, holding a fan and wearing a yellow hat with a red feather. There is a red bow above the oval, with draped flowers and leaves on either side of the bow.

The bottom edge of the mug has a ring of light scratches and wear. The gilding at the rim has light wear. An unknown polychrome substance, perhaps enamel, has adhered to the glass to the right of the handle. The glass surrounding each end of the handle has several short cracks.
