Randall Overbaugh was interviewed as part of the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History's Community History Project discussing moments of change in his life.
In this interview, Randy talks about his long journey through at least 3 colleges and academic programs, and his journey to finding a full-time teaching job. Randy is very passionate about music and was originally majoring in music history and literature when he decided that he wanted to be a music teacher. Randy missed the student teaching portion of his education, so he went to get a Masters Degree at Tufts University. After earning his degree, Randy struggled to find a job and went back to school to become a nurse. He was still having trouble finding a job. Eventually, Randy earned a building substitute teacher position, which he eventually built into a full-time teaching job at an alternative high school in Windsor Locks. Throughout this time, he got married, had 2 kids, moved in and out of his mother’s house, and ran a painting business on the side.

This program developed community historians to identify, document, and preserve their experiences as residents of Connecticut, and to share these experiences during a series of community presentations. The project focused on the theme "Redefining Moments of Change."
