Dehjah Drye was interviewed as part of the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History's Community History Project discussing moments of change in her life.
Dehjah is currently a Junior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Diagnostic Genetic Sciences and minoring in Sociology. She talks about the transition to being a college student freshman year and the difficulties of being away from her mom for the first time. Dehjah explains that after transitioning to being an official college student, she learned to be more self-reliant. She also realized the importance of standing up for herself and putting herself out there in terms of interactions. Throughout high school she was very shy and did not have a lot of friends, however when she transitioned to college she began being more open to other people. Dehjah is very proud of the strength she has gained over time during her college experience as well as the mental health progress she has made. She believes change is unavoidable and that you must grow as a person.

This program developed community historians to identify, document, and preserve their experiences as residents of Connecticut, and to share these experiences during a series of community presentations. The project focused on the theme "Redefining Moments of Change."
