DescriptionAudio file of interview with Adrien Braun. He was interviewed by Angelica Gajewski on 27 March 2025 in Hartford, CT.

Adrien Braun was interviewed as part of the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History's Community History Project discussing moments of change in his life.

Adrien Braun is a 21 year old college student at Trinity College in Hartford Connecticut. He was born and raised in New York and discovered his transgender identity early in childhood. With the initial support of his mother and eventual acceptance by his step-father, he was able to receive gender affirming care in childhood.

Adrien notes coming out of the closet as transgender as a central moment of change in his life. He notes that ultimately, this process is still ongoing as his transition has spanned years and still includes additional gender affirming action and self-discovery. In addition to this pivotal change, he notes the changing nature of childhood and coming of age more generally as they took place in the background of his transition.

NotesSubject Note: The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History’s Community History Project (CHP) is a public-facing initiative, focused on contemporary collecting, gathering items of the recent past as well as from events happening today. This program developed community historians to identify, document, and preserve their experiences as residents of Connecticut, and to share these experiences during a series of community presentations. The project focused on the theme "Redefining Moments of Change." Conneticans share stories of people or events who have changed their lives or how they have sparked change in the lives of others.
