DescriptionHead and shoulders length portrait of Louise Cheney as a young woman. She is looking off camera to the left. Louise is wearing a vertically striped dress or blouse that has a lace collar. There are silk ribbons tied at her neck. Her hair is styled in an updo and decorated with beaded combs. There are small curls over her forehead.

There is a thin red border printed around the edge of the cabinet card. There is also a decorative banner printed in red ink below the image area.

The coat of arms of Italy (1861-1878) is printed in red ink on verso, flanked by a pair of intersecting medallions on each side, also printed in red ink.

The top medallion on the left features a seated figure facing to the left with an outstretched arm. Text around the circumference reads: "AL PROGRESSO DELLE ARTI DELL INDUSTRIA E DEL / ESPOSIZIONE / FORLI". The bottom medallion has a wreath of leaves around the edge and the letters "GI" printed in the middle.

The bottom medallion on the right has the letters "GIA" printed in the middle.The text around the circumference reads: "R SOCIETA TOSCANA D". The top medallion features a walking figure that is dropping flowers on the ground. The text around the circumference reads: "ESPOSIZIONE INTER DI ORTICOLTURA FIRENZE 1874". These two medallions are renderings of the front and back of the Tuscan Horticultural Society prize for 1874.
