DescriptionThree-quarter-length portrait of a small girl seated in a landscape. She wears a dress with a wide neckline and puff sleeves trimmed with rickrack and possibly embroidery. Her apron is similarly decorated. In her hands, she holds a long piece of ribbon folded back on itself. A small bird, possibly a canary, is perched on her right hand. A stylized rose bush is on the right. A large tree is in the right background. In the left background are additional trees, including poplars, a grassy field or lawn, a fence, and a small house. The composition is framed by a pointed arch with a diaper pattern in the spandrels.
