DescriptionView of Marjory Cheney (1880-1967) standing on the brick porch of a large house. She is wearing a turban, tunic, and skirt, all made out of patterned cloth. Her body is turned to the left. Both arms are raised and she is holding an open fan in her right hand. There is a chair sitting on the porch behind her, to the left of the front entrance. The double doors are open and a young boy can be seen standing just inside. This may be Timothy Cheney, seen in 1992.115.17. There is a portico over the porch, and there is a lantern hanging from the roof of the portico.

Context note: This photograph was probably taken in South Manchester, Connecticut.

A sign in film 1985.113.2 indicates that the costume is of a "CHINESE GIRL / (A BRIDE)". It was made out of Cheney silk for an international silk show.

The photograph is filed under “F” for “Fashion Show”.

Cataloging worksheet in object file includes the following note: "Some doubt in accessioner's mind that 1992.115.16 is an image of Ruth Sears Cheney--after comparison with 1992.115.11, another photograph, said by donor to be of Ruth Sears Cheney. Woman in 1992.115.16 appears to be older than Ruth Sears Cheney would have been @ 1915-1920."
