Translated by Yahaira [last name unknown]. She was interviewed as part of the Connecticut Historical Society's Community History Project discussing her experience during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
This interview is conducted in English and Spanish and includes a person translating the conversation.
Susilandia is a single mom with four children. She also struggles with a health condition which prevents her from working. She attends adult education classes to learn English.
Susilandia and her children contracted COVID. She had COVID when she was supposed to have surgery.
She did receive the vaccine and had a bad reaction but chose not to vaccinate her children out of fear that they would have a negative reaction to the vaccine.
She described the pandemic as very scary and sad.

This program developed community historians to identify, document, and preserve their experiences as residents of Connecticut, and to share these experiences during a series of community presentations.
