Description7/8 portrait ainting of Lylis Beach Emmons by her husband Alexander Hamilton Emmons. Emmons is standing, facing left, with her head turned to the right so that she is seen in 3/4 profile. She has dark brown, curly hair that is parted in the middle and gathered at the back of her head. She is wearing a black dress fastened with a red brooch at the throat, and has a red flower or other ornament in her hair. The background is a cloudy sky with small patches of blue.

NotesConstituent note: The sitter's name is recorded in the acquisition paperwork as Lylis Beach Emmons, Alexander Hamilton Emmons's wife. However, the genealogical information found through Ancestry states that his first wife's name was Mary Ann Wilson and his second wife's name was Elizabeth English Emmons.
