They were interviewed as part of the Connecticut Historical Society's Community History Project discussing their experience during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Ninon Guinassi and Lizbeth Polo Smith shared their stories of the COVID-19 pandemic in English and Spanish with the help of the interpreter, Susana Ormeño. Guinassi and Smith worked to create Ayuda, a direct aid arm of the Hispanic Alliance in New London County. They shared stories of their work, especially among undocumented immigrant communities who were barred from many forms of support during the pandemic. They also gave some perspective on their personal experiences.

NotesSubject Note: The Connecticut Historical Society’s Community History Project (CHP) is a public-facing initiative, focused on contemporary collecting, gathering items of the recent past as well as from events happening today. This program developed community historians to identify, document, and preserve their experiences as residents of Connecticut, and to share these experiences during a series of community presentations.
