DescriptionA man stands at the edge of a swiftly moving stream holding his rifle by the barrel and swinging it like a club at a bear standing on its hind legs with outstretched paws. The man wears a cap, jacket, vest, breeches, and hose and has a game bag slung over his shoulder. A second hunter climbs over a fallen tree in the right foreground. He also holds a rifle and wears a cap, jacket or sweater, breeches, hose, and game bag. A dog is at his right. Large rocks and trees, including evergreens, are in the right background. Mist fills the valley beneath rocky hills or mountains in the left background.
