DescriptionHalf-length portrait of a woman wearing a dress in the "redingote" front-opening style. The dress is made of printed fabric and has a broad scalloped collar edged with braid, a broad belt with an ornate metal buckle, and balloon sleeves. A lacy blouse or undergarment is visible beneath the dress. The woman also wears a long scarf wrapped around her neck and a broad-brimmed hat trimmed with feathers and appliquéd leaves beneath the brim. Ribbon ties hang down behind the woman's back. Her jewelery includes drop earrings and a thin chain set with a stone, worn across her forehead. Her hair is braided in two buns on either side of her head.
