DescriptionMan's cloak of a dark blue wool broadcloth with a light blue wool broadcloth lining and a black velvet collar. Two large hooks and eyes close the cape at the neck; there is a large closure (agrafe) of cording and covered buttons below on the front. A third covered button is stitched to the proper right shoulder, enabling the front to be held open. The velvet collar is 2 1/2 inches wide all around. A 2 1/2-inch-long chain is stitched to the inside of the collar seam just above the label. The cape is constructed with 6 1/2-inch-long shoulder seams/darts. There are no side or center back seams. The lining is constructed the same way, with just shoulder seams corresponding to those on the fashion fabric. A pocket made from ivory twill-woven cotton is stitched into each front lining seam at chest height. The maker's label is in the proper left side.
