DescriptionWhite kid leather gloves completely hand-stitched with white or off-white silk thread. There are three rows of reinforced stitching along the back of the hand. The cuff of each glove has a slit near the thumb which is closed by means of two small copper buttons, each stamped with an "A" and small welted button holes.
Object number1861.10.2a,b
MarkingsMaker's label stamped inside the cuff of the proper left glove in blue ink. Stamp reads, "P 8 1/4/ 156 MOYEN/ an oval with the maker's name, now too worn to be legible/ 41". Both gloves have "74" stamped inside by the button holes. The proper left glove is stamped inside near the buttons with "P". Other stamping is deeper inside each glove, possibly corresponding to leather manufacturer's makers; these are cut off by the seams of the gloves. The buttons of each glove are stamped with an "A".
