DescriptionSampler, done in cross stitch in shades of dark brown, brown, and tan embroidery floss on a tan background by Harriet Abbot (1815-1887) at age 11 in 1826. The sampler has four complete alphabets in various cases and fonts followed by a prayer. Sampler Text: "May I be kept in virtues path / By Gods Almighty hand / Be owned and blest of him at last / And reach the pomist land / Executed by Harriet Abbott examp / in my 11 year / September 1826 [faded] / of the instruction of [faded] Child"
