DescriptionPortrait of William Pynchon by S. Ordway, copied from portrait at the Peabody Essex Museum that was painted in 1657. The quarter-length portrait depicts Pynchon as a man of 67. He has a brown mustache and goatee. He wears a black coat with buttons on both sides and a white turndown collar and skull cap. In the upper left corner is the Pynchon coat of arms. In the lower right corner is the following text: "Guil Pynchon. Armg. Effegies Delin. anno dom 1656 Aetat 67."
