DescriptionPieced quilt made from rectangular strips of printed plain-woven cotton fabric from the end of textile bolts; the fabric is in a variety of patterns in mostly muted blue, red and brown on a cream ground. The fabric is marked with production numbers, labels including "British Manufactory", royal ciphers and dates including "1825". The quilt consists of a pieced top, batting, and a backing; the three layers are joined by a hand-stitched diamond grid quilting pattern. The top is pieced with a framed nine patch center medallion surrounded by concentric borders. The backing and edging (both replaced) are plain-woven tan linen.
Condition: The top and backing of the quilt are stained. The quilt is cut down from a larger pieced quilt. The quilt has a later linen edging and two large holes that are backed with linen. Smaller holes in the top reveal the batting below. One hole is burned through the top, batting and backing near the center.
