DescriptionRound, redware soap dish with an unevenly applied clear lead glaze on the exterior. The bottom and portions of the foot are not glazed. The soap dish consists of a flat bottom, then a hollow, graduated foot that supports the flared sides and plain rim of the dish. A flat, thick disc of redware is located inside the dish with one larger central hole surrounded by five evenly spaced smaller holes. To one side of the dish, at the narrowest point, is a circular hole. Above this, impressed in the side of the dish, is the mark, "HARVEY GOODWIN/ H". There are several chips in the glaze of the soap dish, on the flat disc and circling the foot. An older, repaired crack is located on the bottom. There is light crazing on all the thickly-glazed portions of the soap dish.

MarkingsAbove a circular hole to one side of the dish is the impressed mark, "HARVEY GOODWIN/ H". The second line of the mark is indiscipherable after the letter "H", but may have read, "HARTFORD".On View
