DescriptionBanknote with engraved borders and typeset text, one shilling, serial number 1462, printed by Timothy Green, New London, 1776. The front of each note has text detailing the legality of the note and features the seal of the colony with three grapevines, a hand that points to the left, and the abbreviated motto "QUI TRAN SUST." The reverse features an engraved border and text detailing the worth of the banknote [one shilling] and the name of the printer [Timothy Green]. The reverse is marked “Registered” and signed by Comptroller J. Porter in red ink.
