DescriptionGirl's dress of sheer, white cotton woven with stripes of heavier white threads in the warp and weft to create a widely-spaced crossed bars pattern and then printed in two shades of orange with a branching pattern. The dress has a very wide, slightly square neckline, bound and piped with self-fabric. The bodice is gathered into the neck binding and into the center of the 1 1/4-inch-wide waistband at front and back. The short sleeves are set into the bodice with raglan seams. They are bordered with a 1 3/8-inch-wide strip of ruched self-fabric and edged with a flounce of machine-made bobbin-type lace. The very full skirt is gathered to the waistband. The center back opening extends fifteen inches and fastens with hooks and eyes at the neckline and waistband. The bodice back is pieced across the shoulders. The bodice has a separate, low-necked lining, which is integrated into the bodice structure at the waistband. The neckline of the lining is edged with narrow machine-made lace.
