DescriptionVery young boy's dress, made of delaine (wool weft, cotton warp) printed in shades of beige and brown on ecru, with a design of roses and coral-like branches in stripes. The dress has a very wide neckline, finished with piping. The bodice front and back are pleated vertically from neckline to waistline. The short sleeves are set smoothly into the armscye and are slightly flared at the openings. The neckline is trimmed with a single row of pale olive-colored velvet ribbon; two rows of the ribbon are sewn over the waistband. There is evidence that this velvet ribbon also once trimmed the sleeve openings. The full skirt is pleated into the waistband. It is trimmed about 3 1/2 inches above the bottom edge with a one-inch-wide brown silk ribbon. The center back opening extends 9 1/4 inches and fastens with brass hooks and eyes. The bodice and sleeves are lined with plain cotton.
