DescriptionAt the left, five women dance in the interior of palace. They wear turbans, short dresses and jackets, and pantaloons. Two additional women are seated on a large carpet to their right. One woman dresses the hair of the other. The room appears to be circular, with a dome. Drapery with a cord and tassel and a column separate these women from additional figures at the right. Immediately to the right of the column, a bearded man smoking a hookah leans against a cushion. A man with a mustache removes a veil from a young woman wearing a cross around her neck. Two additional women are seated on steps leading to the shore. Three additional women are in a boat in the background. At the far right, two men unload jugs from another boat. A box, a goblet, a plate, and other dishes are nearby on the grassy ground. A man holding a spear advances up the steps towards the palace. In the distance, a city occupies both sides of a large body of water. Fortifications, domes, minerets, and a long arched bridge are visible.
