DescriptionBlack ribbon with a pinked lower edge, attached to a plastic rectangular piece of plastic in which MEMBER has been engraved into the gold-covered surface. The ribbon is printed in gold with "IN MEMORIAM" the image of a cross with radiating lines from the center, then "MT. CARMEL / & / ST. CHRISTINA / SOCIETY / E. HARTFORD, CT." This badge was worn on the occasion of a member's death. Gennaro Capobianco was a member of this society for his entire adult life. The society was established with the 1980 merger of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society (founded in 1926) and St. Cristina Society (founded in 1960). Our members include more than 300 men and women of Italian background and Catholic faith whose efforts honor God and pay special tribute to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Cristina. Members contribute their special talents and gifts toward social and volunteer activities, special events and entertainment.
