Couch (not Couche) who was served with the First Connecticut Heavy Artillery from May 1861 to September 1865. Couch mustered in as a private and mustered out as a brevet first lieutenant. After the war, Couch lived in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he owned a shoe shop. The photograph was taken in Danbury, Connecticut.Date Note: Assuming the subject is George H. Couch, the photograph must have been taken between 1862 and 1864 when Couch held the rank of sergeant in the First Connecticut Heavy Artillery.
