DescriptionA group of men stand on the sidewalk in front of a store in a brick commercial building. Some have mustaches. Most wear aprons. A cigar store Indian stands to the left of the entrance. Signs on the striped awning and above the door read: "Cigars Tobacco" and "Cigar Manufacturers." A sign on the shop to the left reads: "[Put]nam Phalanx / Hall / [Dickin]son's [Alttern]ative Remedies."

NotesSubject Note: Louis Krug, Michael Powers and Charles Kuehnhold were tobacconists at 267 Main Street. Frederick C. Krug was a cigar maker at the same address. In 1889, George K. Dickenson's Alternative Medicine shop was located in Putnam Phalanx Hall at 265 Main Street, Hartford.
