DescriptionView looking west on Pearl Street from near the corner of Main Street. The corner of the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance building is at the far right, with a vacant lot where the church formerly stood beside it. The spire, of Portland brownstone, is partially hidden by trees. The Phoenix Insurance Company building is just beyond the spire. Other commercial buildings are farther down the street. A sign on a roof at left reads: "Leo F. Guethlein. / Stroh's / Bohemian / Beer / On Draught." A horse-drawn wagon, a carriage and a man on a bicycle are on the street near a fire hydrant. Two men stand on the sidewalk. A poster is on a wooden wall near the demolition site.
