DescriptionA steam ferry boat, probably the F.C. Fowler, loading or unloading. A horse-drawn carriage is on the boat and several men stand near the edge of the water. Portions of the river bank in the foreground are deeply rutted. A few buildings are visible on the East Hartford shore of the Connecticut River in the background. Inscribed on back: "Temporary ferry service between Hartford & e. Hartford, summer 1895 after covered bridge was destroyed by fire."
