A dog sits between them, in front of a fence. A small boy is seated on the fence. Behind the fence is a girl, a woman in a hat and shawl and a man wearing a hat, coat, vest and watch chain, leaning against a tree. In the background is a two-story, cross-gabled house painted in contrasting colors with a porch on two sides. Additions at the back of the house attach to a large barn, also painted in contrasting colors. The trees in the yard appear to be fruit trees.
