DescriptionLarge group of men, some of them bricklayers, posing on scaffolding surrounding brick chimney stack under construction and on flatbed railroad car #59 (Hartford Shop) of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. Some wear overalls, most wear hats and three wear jackets and vests, some of them hold hods. One has a knobby walking stick and another a watch chain. The workman at top of scaffold appears to be African American. A one-story brick building is to the left, a factory with tall brick smokestack in background and a railroad or roadbed is to rear. Tools, ladders and brick construction activities in evidence.
