DescriptionWoman's white linen slip with center front opening, which fastens with four small mother of pearl buttons. The bodice front has an X-shaped insertion of lace from the shoulders to the sides. Within the two opposing sides of the X, the fabric is gathered over the breasts. The neckline is V-shaped in front and scooped in back. It is edged with scalloped torchon lace. The armholes are also edged with this lace. The waist is defined by an insertion of narrow machine-embroidered eyelet. The skirt of the slip is gored. The bottom of the slip has a seventeen-inch-deep flounce over the lace-trimmed skirt, so that a double layer is created for extra fullness. The flounce has two rows of deeply scalloped ruffles headed by three rows of tucks with drawn-thread work.
