DescriptionIn the interior of a room, a young woman dances a jig facing a large bird on a wooden stand. She is wearing a short skirt with a laced bodice, a shift, pantalettes, and high buttoned shoes. She has ribbons in her hair. The bird, apparently a cockatoo rather than a parrot, is fastened to its perch by a cord. A cloth cover for the stand is draped from a bar at the right. An upholstered couch, a mirror, a screen, a landscape painting in a gilt frame, and patterned drapery are in the background. Striped wallpaper is on the wall. A patterned carpet is on the floor. A bouquet of flowers lies on the floor near the bird's stand.
