DescriptionTwo sketches of the central part of Columbia. The Congregational Church is in the center of the lower composition with a gambrel-roofed "Red school house," a cluster of buildings and two large tavern signs to the left. To the right, Barber identifies a house as "Wheelock School," also known as "Moor's Indian Charity School," where Dr. Eleazer Wheelock taught Native American boys from 1741 to 1770. Sampson Occum was among his students. In 1770, Mr. Wheelock moved the school to Hanover, N.H
