DescriptionThirty-six glacial boulders, a minimalist sculpture by Carl Andre, occupy a flat site adjacent to the First Congregational Church in Hartford, part of which is visible at the far right. Leafless trees, an electric light pole, and parts of the Soldiers and Sailors Arch, the Connecticut State Capitol, Bushnell Park, and the dome of Aetna Life and Casualty Insurance Company are in the background. Snow is on the ground. Parked cars are on Gold Street at the left.

It consists of eight rows of boulders arranged in a triangular shape. The rows of boulders evoke the gravestones in the nearby Ancient Burying Ground.
