DescriptionA woman performing one of the first processes in the manufacture of silk at Cheney Brothers Silk Manufacturing Company. Before the raw silk leaves Japan it is weighed and graded. The first thing to be done in the United States is to check these weights and gradings. On this woman's testing depends the price that the manufacturer pays to the importer.
