They presented him with a silver loving-cup to commemorate the occassion. While the inscription on the envelope claims that the party was a celebration of Cheney's seventy-fifth birthday in 1907, an article in the Hartford Courant confirms that the party was in 1908 on his seventy-sixth birthday.
