InscribedOn verso, lower right, in green ink, "ALTOBELLO ADOLESCENT / PSYC. HOSPITAL. / REC ROOM. / SCULPTURE BY ALICE ADAMS / BLDG BY FJM"On verso, lower right, in graphite, accession numberNotesSubject Note: In 1979, the Henry D. Altobello Children and Youth Center opened in the former Underhill Hospital in Meriden as the primary psychiatric treatment facility for adolescents in Connecticut. The hospital lost accreditation in 1980 due in part to the poor condition of its facilities; plans for a new building were announced in 1984. This photograph presumably relates to that new building.
