NotesDate Note: According to information from the donor, in the object file, men in the Brown family usually had their portraits painted for their twenty-first birthdays. Since Francis Brown was born in 1810, this miniature portrait was probably painted in 1831. The sitter's clothing confirms this date, and the artist Thomas H. Parker is known to have been in Hartford, Connecticut at this time. (Ozzone 4/5/2013)On View
