DescriptionCommercial buildings line a paved city street. Electric street lights, utility poles, trash cans, and a police or fire callbox are on the paved sidewalks. Men and women walk on the sidewalks. The trees at the left are in front of the Old State House. A kiosk is nearby. Trolley tracks are in the road, and trolley wires are overhead. An open trolley and several horse-drawn vehicles are in the background. A street sign at the right reads: "ASYLUM". Signs on buildings read: "ERICHSON & MCLEAN. / DENTISTS. / ENTRANCE", "LAW OFFICES / OF / T.H. MALTBIE / W.M. MALTBIE", and "CITY BANK OF HARTFORD". Scaffolding where a building is under construction and the spires of the Center Congregational Church and the South Baptist Church are visible in the distance. A manhole cover and numerous puddles, presumably from a recent rain storm, are in the road in the foreground.
