DescriptionWoman's princess line day dress, made of wool/cotton challis, printed with a design of alternate stripes of faux warp-print flowers in red, pink, and olive brown, and wavy bars of turquoise scattered with red and yellow dots. The length of the center front is inset with a self-fabric panel decorated with horizontal bars of black silk ribbon. The seams of the dress alongside the panel, from the shoulderline to the hem, are trimmed with non-functioning buttons covered with black silk, piping covered with black silk, and a self-fabric ruffle with black silk. The neckline is high and round, finished with a narrow mandarin-type collar which is edged with black piping. The shoulderline is dropped; the armscye is piped. The coat sleeves are trimmed at the wrist openings with two bands of black silk ribbon and a pleated self-fabric ruffle, which is also edged with black silk ribbon. The dress opens along the left side of the center front panel; it fastens with metal hooks and thread eyes. There is a patch pocket bordered with black silk ribbon over the proper right hip.

A double ruffle trimmed with the black ribbon is stitched down the center back of the dress. Three tiers of self-fabric ruffles edged with black ribbon are stitched across the bottom of the skirt back. The dress has a slight train. Two different white cottons line the dress; the bottom edge of the dress is lined with dark turquoise glazed cotton.
