DescriptionOval portraits of the first fourteen presidents of the United States are grouped around an eagle perched on a shield and cannonballs and cannons grouped with American flags. Female allegorical figures representing Liberty (on the left, with a Liberty cap on a pole) and Justice (on the right, with scales and a sword) stand atop Corinthian columns. Four American flags are grouped at the top of the composition. The frames of the presidential portraits are inscribed as follows: "GEORGE WASHINGTON - 1789 to 1797" "THOS. JEFFERSON - 1801 to 1809" "JAMES MONROE - 1817 to 1825" "ANDREW JACKSON - 1829 to 1837" "WM. H. HARRISON - Inaugurated March 4 died April 4 1841" "JOHN TYLER - April 4, 1841 to 1845" "MARTIN VAN BUREN - 1837 to 1841" "JOHN Q.
